Make the most of your fruit! Learn how to select, prep, and protect your farm-fresh produce.
How do you pick blackberries?
- Choose blackberries that are purplish black, red ones are immature and have a sour taste. They are also best when used immediately.
How do you prepare blackberries?
- Blackberries are best enjoyed as the raw fruit but can easily be incorporated into many recipes. Puree blackberries to make a delicious sauce to use on pancakes or yogurt.
How do you store blackberries?
- Keep fresh by storing in plastic container in refrigerated until ready to use. (Note: our vented containers are the best way to store berries as they allow just the right amount of airflow to not dehydrate and keep the berries undisturbed until use). Remove any damaged or overly soft berries. It is best to wash berries just before use by rinsing gently under running water and either allow to air dry or use a paper towel to remove excess water.
