inspired by Star Wars: The Last Jedi
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. (Nov. 15, 2017) — Dole, one of the world’s leading providers of fresh produce, healthy-living recipes and insights, has launched a new in-store mobile app designed to help parents rally their kids and families to eat and live healthier.
Now available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for iOS and Android mobile devices, the DOLE® App blasts into hyperspace with “Unite for a Healthy Galaxy,” the latest chapter in Dole’s multiyear nutritional collaboration with Disney. The 18-week healthy living initiative is now live with character-inspired recipes, limited-edition banana stickers and a sweepstakes offering the chance to win weekly prizes inspired by Star Wars: The Last Jedi, arriving in theaters Dec. 15.
The free downloadable experience allows shoppers to scan select DOLE® produce at supermarkets throughout the U.S. and Canada to unlock and share photo filters, recipes and other unique content; receive special rewards; and enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win one of 19 weekly prizes inspired by Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
The DOLE App offers the following features supporting “Unite for a Healthy Galaxy”:
- Scan-to-unlock feature. Scan Star Wars: The Last Jedi characters and vehicles on specially-marked DOLE® Banana stickers and Pineapple tags to unlock character-specific bios, recipes and photo filters that can be collected, customized and shared.
- Share-to-enter feature. Users who unlock certain character images receive pre-populated Facebook and Instagram social posts, complete with the “UnitewithDole” and “sweepstakes” hashtags, that can be shared to earn sweepstakes entries.
- Immediate bonus rewards. Users who unlock and collect all Star Wars: The Last Jedi images in each of three phased-release collectors’ sets receive film-specific downloadable mobile wallpapers and other bonus rewards that can be stored and enjoyed later.
Ultimately, DOLE App users will be able to scan Star Wars: The Last Jedi characters Rey, BB-8, Chewbacca, RD-D2, C-3PO and others on assorted DOLE fruit and vegetable products in the U.S. and Canada through mid-February 2018 to receive the unique content. Among the products to be included are Bananas, Pineapples, Blueberries, Cauliflower, Celery, Celery Hearts and Classic Iceberg, Classic Romaine, Hearts of Romaine, Garden Salad, American Blend, Very Veggie and Shredded Lettuce salads and salad blends.
“Unite for a Healthy Galaxy” continues through mid-February 2018 with a dedicated microsite, digital interactions, and blogger and social media programs adding to the intergalactic healthy-living celebration.
The app will continue past the “Unite for a Healthy Galaxy” campaign with new content and unlocks associated with future Dole initiatives.
According to the rules for the “Unite for a Healthy Galaxy Sweepstakes,” U.S. and Canada residents who complete the interactive quiz, download the DOLE App or share Star Wars: The Last Jedi content with the required hashtags will be automatically entered a weekly drawing for a chance to win one of 18 remote-controlled, voice-activated BB-8 toys from Spinmaster or a set of four Star Wars: The Last Jedi Sixth Scale Standard Figures from Sideshow.
The DOLE App was designed by Amusement Park of Santa Ana, Calif., developed by Monster VR of Irvine, Calif., and is hosted by Dole Food Company. See below for credits.
