Bananas are grown between the mountains and the sea. Locals do not eat much our cavendish bananas, they prefer plantains as a side dish, or Manzanos.

Riohacha

Riohacha is located in the northern Caribbean region of Colombia near the mouth of the Ranchería River and the Caribbean Sea. In the 16th century, this area was known for its pearl industry.

Climate

Riohacha has a semi-arid climate but still receives up to 21 inches of rainfall per year with most rain falling in May and toward the latter part of the year.  In spite of the lack of rainfall, the climate is very humid year-round.
