Spicy Banana Dip

This is an easy fruit dip which is great to serve at your next party.

  1. Mash bananas with fork. Stir in lime juice, cilantro, mint, ginger and green chile, transfer to a serving bowl. Refrigerate in an airtight container until ready to use.
  2. Serve with homemade or store bought whole grain cinnamon crackers, or vegetables such as celery and carrots.

Whole Grain Crackers:

  1. Combine 1/2 cup whole wheat flour, 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons milled chia or crushed flax seed, 3/4 teaspoon salt and 3/4 teaspoon baking powder.
  2. Add 1/3 cup water and 1 tablespoon olive oil, mix until dough holds together. If necessary, add one or two more tablespoons of water as necessary.
  3. Transfer to the counter and knead 4 or 5 times.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces, cover and rest for 10 minutes.
  5. On a lightly whole wheat floured surface, roll the dough until it is wafer thin.
  6. Carefully move dough pieces to parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Dust 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon over the top, bake in preheated 400°F oven for 4 minutes on each side.
  8. Remove crackers from the oven and break into bite-size pieces.
