We have only one earth and climate protection concerns us all. We at Dole are empowered to make a real and impactful contribution to the fight against climate change, because undoubtedly it is a reality. There is no question that the food and agricultural industries can and must work for a better climate. The big goal for us: net zero CO2 emissions at farm level in the Dole-led operations by 2030.

By 2025, we will explore the extent to which the reduction of the carbon footprint can be expanded beyond the farm level. This means direct emissions and emissions from purchased energy. And we also want to reduce the emissions of our company's own ships 30% by 2030. This already included retrofitting Dole’s container fleet. This modernization resulted in increased efficiency. The emissions of the entire fleet decreased by 244,000 t in 2018 compared to 2004.

Action today: Dole has already taken numerous steps in the name of climate protection, both in the farms as well as in commercial and transportation departments. Whether exploring renewable energy opportunities like wind turbines at salad plants, installing energy-saving LED lights, introducing new agricultural equipment, implementing cultivation methods with less fertilizer and pesticides, or utilizing solar energy on some farms or fruit transport with solar trucks – we are committed to taking action!
