Bananas are grown between the mountains and the sea. Locals do not eat much our cavendish bananas, they prefer plantains as a side dish, or Manzanos.Magdalena
The Magdalena area stretches along the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta in the North of Colombia. In spite of receiving water from seasonal rains and also from the Rio Frío and Sevilla rivers, water scarcity is an on-going concern in the region.Climate
The climate in Santa Marta is known as a local steppe climate. There is not much rain and temperatures stay high throughout the year. The seasonally lack of rain makes this area a transition region between organic and conventional farming.Certifications for this farm
