Pick

How do you pick ripe papaya?

Look for papayas with yellow skin and little to no blemishes.

Prepare

How do you prepare papaya?

Usually eaten raw, it's cool flavor is a compliment to spicy foods. Green papayas should not be eaten raw and can be cooked and used in salsa or added to stews and soups.

Storage

How do you store papaya?

Once ripe, papaya can be stored in the refrigerator for a week. Unripe papaya should not be stored in the refrigerator because the cold permanently halts the ripening process.
