Mangoes

How to Tell if a Mango is Ripe

Mangoes are a multisensorial experience, and you can’t judge them by color alone! To pick the perfect mango:

  1. Give it a gentle squeeze. A ripe mango should have a slight give, similar to a ripe peach.
  2. Smell the stem: A ripe mango will have sweet, fruity aroma.
  3. Check the shape: Look for plump and smooth textures, anything flat or shriveled won’t be the taste of sunshine you expect.

Ripe and ready? Chop up the mango and store it in the fridge to enjoy its freshness a couple of days longer.

Not ripe yet? Leave it on your counter at room temperature for a couple of days to get the full tropical flavor.
