Trying to make dinner out of pantry staples – say a package of pre-made gnocchi, a can of tuna, mixed vegetables and a jar of tomato soup, can make you feel like you’re on an episode of Chopt. Let us help you start the day, without the gameshow!

A simple bowl of whole grain cereal either hot or cold is a powerful way to break your fast.  One serving of cereal and skim milk provides about 150 calories, and when topped with a handful of berries, a handy banana or even raisins, is a balanced and effortless way to feel full and satisfied.  The modest combo has mighty health benefits according to a study published in the International Journal of Public Health.  The longitudinal study of more than 139,000 people highlighted fruits and vegetables as a positive way to avoid memory loss and heart disease.  Low consumption of cereals in those over 80 years old were observed to have the highest amount of memory loss suggesting that it could just come down to a bowl of oats.

Cereals such as whole grain wheat, whole corn and oat provide important nutrients such as fiber, vitamin E and omega 3’s and are often fortified with iron, B vitamins and folic acid to help us meet our daily requirements

Young or old, go with the traditional bowl of cereal with fruit or try our Banana Sushi Rolls with Crispy Rice for a unique way to eat cereal in the morning.  Either way, your mind will thank you :)
