CHIA MEATBALLS

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pkg. (20 oz.) ground turkey
  • 1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup Italian-style bread crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons DOLE® Nutrition Plus Milled Chia Seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 jar (24 oz.) pasta sauce
  • 1 cup water

DIRECTIONS

MIX ground turkey, tomato paste, bread crumbs, chia seeds, oregano, garlic, salt and pepper in large bowl until well blended.

SCOOP about 1/4-cup turkey mixture and gently roll into desired meatball size. Heat large pot and add olive oil. Sear meatballs on all sides until browned, about 2 minutes per side.

REMOVE meatballs and set aside. In the same pot, combine pasta sauce and water, heat to boiling. Reduce heat to simmer and return meatballs to pot.

COOK meatballs on low heat 45 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F. Serve with hot cooked pasta or rice, if desired.
