Unfortunately, lower-in-fat turkey burgers can often be lower in flavor, but that’s definitely not the case here. This recipe creates a patty that’s seasoned with the multilayered flavors of Worcestershire sauce and doesn’t dry out when cooked. Then we build a better burger that’s topped with fresh lettuce, a slice of sweet pineapple and some crispy turkey bacon. A freshly toasted bun spread with a bit of teriyaki finishes things off in a way that will definitely convince you that you never need to eat a flavorless turkey burger again.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup light mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup bottled teriyaki glaze, divided
  • 1 pkg. (20 oz.) ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 slices fresh DOLE® Tropical Gold® Pineapple
  • 4 wheat hamburger buns, toasted
  • 2 cups DOLE Butter Bliss or other DOLE Salad blend
  • 4 slices turkey bacon, cooked

Directions

  1. Mix mayonnaise with 2 teaspoons teriyaki glaze.
  2. Combine turkey, bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce, egg, salt and pepper. Form turkey mixture into 4 (1/2 inch) patties.
  3. Grill over medium-high heat, brushing frequently with remaining teriyaki glaze, 3 minutes on each side or until cooked to desired doneness. Brush pineapple slices with glaze, grill until golden.
  4. Spread mayonnaise mixture on buns. Place a burger on each bun bottom. Top each with salad, bacon and pineapple.
