Broiled Asparagus with Sesame Sauce Fast and tasty asparagus side dish
1 tablespoon plus 1/4 teaspoon sesame oil, divided,
1-1/4 teaspoons finely minced garlic, divided,
1/4 plus 1/8 teaspoon grated fresh ginger, divided,
dash ground red pepper,
1 pound DOLE® Asparagus, trimmed,
2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce,
1 teaspoon sugar,
2 teaspoons toasted sesame seed,
Step 1: Preheat broiler. Line 15x10-inch jellyroll pan with foil.
Step 2: Stir together 1 tablespoon sesame oil, 1 teaspoon garlic, 1/4 teaspoon ginger, and red pepper in shallow dish.
Step 3: Toss asparagus in oil mixture to coat and arrange on jellyroll pan
Step 4: Mix together soy sauce, sugar, remaining 1/4 teaspoon garlic, and 1/8 teaspoon ginger in small bowl, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Stir in remaining 1/4 teaspoon sesame oil.
Step 5: Broil the asparagus about 6 inches from the heat source for 8 minutes or until lightly browned and tender, turning once.
Step 6: Place the asparagus on a serving platter.
Step 7: Stir the sauce and drizzle over the asparagus. Sprinkle with sesame seed.
Step 8: *Note: To toast the sesame seed, put them in a small skillet over medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the seeds are light brown. Watch carefully: sesame seed can burn quickly. Immediately transfer the seeds to a small dish and cool.
