Cherries
Cherries are a Superfood for your joints because they are a top source of phytonutrients such as anthocyanins, which help support joint health. Research shows anthocyanins inhibit enzymes such as cyclooxygenase (COX) that cause inflammation. In addition, several studies have linked cherry consumption with joint health through the alleviation of inflammation, arthritic pain and gout. During gout attacks, crystals of a naturally occurring chemical, uric acid, accumulate in joints - commonly in the toes - and cause pain. One study from researchers at the US Agricultural Research Service found that five hours after the consumption of about 45 Bing sweet cherries, women's plasma urate levels decreased by approximately 15 percent. The study also revealed a drop in two key markers of inflammation - nitric oxide and C-reactive protein.
